Description:
Our mission is to provide quality care to patients and families affected by the disease of alcoholism and drug addiction, to maintain the integrity of the Willingway program, to promote a lifelong continuing recovery program, and maintain financial viability. Willingway Hospital’s program began informally in 1966 when Dr. John Mooney and Dot Mooney began helping alcoholics in their home. In 1971, the 40-bed hospital was built which established Willingway as the first hospital in Georgia to specialize in the treatment of alcoholism and drug dependency.

Treatment Focus:
Detoxification is the most intensive level of care Willingway provides. Our detoxification unit is equipped to handle most acute medical situations and for more than 30 years has provided the most safe and consistent model of medical intervention available.

Inpatient/Residential treatment focuses on emotional stabilization, education about the illness, development of recovery resources and skills, and personal adoption of recovery principles. Day Treatment/Partial Hospitalization is available for patients who no longer need 24-hour, around the clock care, but do need more structure than outpatient treatment would provide.

Intensive Outpatient is an evening program which provides at least 10 hours of therapy a week including a combination of didactic or educational groups and process groups.

Family Program is an essential element in maintaining sobriety. The spouse and/or other family members are expected to stay with the patient during the last few days of hospital care. Together, they participate in education programs, meetings with the attending physician and counselors, aftercare conferences and family counseling sessions.

Aftercare is a plan that is jointly devised with the patient and his/her counselor. It involves attending AA/NA meetings, having a sponsor and living in a non-toxic environment conducive to a positive recovery. Experience has shown that those who follow our aftercare plan are more likely to maintain sobriety.

Extended Treatment Willingway Hospital operates extended treatment programs for men and women. Both the Men's Lodge and the Women's Residence are designed for patients who need long-term treatment for their addiction in order to establish a solid recovery program. While living in a structured, supportive, home-like environment, patients begin to assume responsibilities for daily living activities. Patients attend daily group counseling and are involved in 12-step work. They attend community 12-step meetings and many of the services available at Willingway Hospital are also made available to the patients in the extended treatment programs.

Cost:The cost of a stay at Willingway hospital will vary since each patient’s addiction treatment is unique to the individual’s drug of choice. Not every patient may require detoxification whereas another may need extended treatment in that area.

When a patient’s treatment plan has been assessed by a physician, Willingway’s Finance Department can advise you of the cost and how to proceed with insurance and payment.
