Welcome to New Life in Recovery Ministries We are just beginning to build our ministry here in the Greater Cincinnati Area, so you will be seeing numerous changes, almost daily, at our new home on the web. This is beginning as a family ministry, and we fully intend to adopt all those who seek understanding, acceptance, and spiritual healing from addictions, sexual abuse, rape, and eating disorders. We ask for your prayers as we begin this new endeavor. May God Bless ALL who come to this web site looking for assistance. Again...Welcome! Jack Stem, Pastor What We Believe We at New Life In Recovery Ministries believe that recovery and healing occurs when we incorporate current knowledge about the disease of addiction with strong spiritual concepts based on the teachings of Jesus Christ through the Bible. We also believe that anyone seeking help for addiction, sexual abuse or eating disorders should never be turned away. For that reason, anyone seeking help and healing is accepted into our ministry, with the understanding that our support groups are based on the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous with Jesus Christ as our Higher Power. We do not force anyone to become a Christian, nor do we force them to believe Jesus Christ is the son of God, or Savior of man-kind. We Do, however, expect that anyone entering our support groups will not expect us to change our ministry to meet their beliefs and/or expectations. If you have a problem with us declaring Jesus as our Higher Power, and have a problem with the Holy Bible as our spiritual authority, please do not join our ministry. We also believe there is much to learn from science as well as spiritual studies. We are more than willing to listen to and incorporate other religious beliefs and philosophies when appropriate. We also base much of our support on current scientific literature when dealing with addiction, sexual abuse and eating disorders. We also know that for a majority of individuals, a period of time spent in intensive treatment where they learn about their unhealthy methods of dealing with life on life's terms, begin to learn new ways of dealing with the stress of everyday life, and to provide them a safe, controlled environment, is necessary to begin a New Life in Recovery. This is where 30 to 90 days of inpatient treatment can mean the difference between becoming abstinent from drugs and alcohol, or truly begin a life-long program of true recovery. Unfortunately, the insurance industry does not provide full coverage for mental health issues including eating disorders, sexual abuse, or addiction and alcoholism. We will provide ongoing information on the battle to pass legislation that will force the insurance companies to cover the cost of treatment for mental health disorders. We believe significant recovery is only achieved when we recognize a Higher Authority than man. Strong spiritual beliefs make recovery a desirable state, not simply abstaining from our addictive activities and rituals. The Twelve Steps based on the model provided by Alcoholics Anonymous, with Jesus as our Higher Power, will provide us relief from our addictions. Finally, we believe the following:
Thank you for taking the time to visit our site. Please contact us if you have questions, need additional resources to help you or someone you love, or to simply ask for prayers. Jack, Marijo, Kimberly and "The Man!", Bill (Dad).
